Craft Margin · Etsy order estimate
More than a fee percentage.
A sale is only part of the story. Give every cost a place before you decide what to charge.
Count the whole order
Shipping, discounts, quantity, gift wrap, and processing on sales tax all change the result. Model the actual checkout instead of guessing from the item price.
Pay yourself for the work
Add your minutes and hourly rate. Your time belongs in the cost of the product, alongside the materials, packaging, and postage.
Work back to a price
Set a target margin and compare it with break-even. The price estimate keeps your order quantity, discount, and cost assumptions in view.
Small details. Better margins.
Practical guides with worked examples, cost checklists, and decisions you can use before your next listing.

Is this Etsy profit calculator free?
Yes. There is no account or subscription, and the calculator works locally in your browser. You can export your estimate as a CSV or print it.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping and sales tax?
For the US scenario modeled here, the 6.5% transaction fee includes charged shipping and gift wrap but excludes buyer sales tax. Etsy Payments processing is calculated on the buyer's payment, including shipping and applicable sales tax. The calculator keeps those two bases separate.
Why does this include my labor?
A product can appear profitable when your time is treated as free. Entering a labor allowance makes it easier to tell whether the order pays you for production and still leaves a surplus. Set the minutes or rate to zero if you want a cash-cost comparison instead.
Can I use it for a digital download?
Yes. Set shipping and packaging to zero, then enter the time and costs you want to allocate to each sale. Design time, software, support, and marketing still need a cost assumption. The tool does not estimate your future sales for you.
Will this match the amount Etsy deposits?
Not necessarily. Deposits may include multiple orders, earlier listing charges, reserves, refunds, advertising balances, subscriptions, tax on seller fees, or timing adjustments. This is an order economics estimate, not a payment-account reconciliation tool.
Does a low fee estimate guarantee a profitable shop?
No. Demand, returns, unsold stock, advertising results, overhead, and taxes affect the business too. Use realistic costs and compare actual statements with your assumptions. This tool cannot promise sales or a particular income.
Built from the published fee rules.
US rates checked November 3, 2026 against Etsy's official fees and taxes overview, Etsy Payments fee schedule, and Offsite Ads policy. Fee rules can change; check your shop's current terms and statement.
